Pumpkin Syrup and TIU Fall Challenge

A was up really early this morning.  She woke up so happy and full of energy that I was surprisingly able to make some pumpkin muffins and try making some pumpkin syrup for my chais.  She kept herself entertained until right before the muffins went into the oven!

My favorite local tea shop White Heron makes their own chai tea concentrate that is better than Starbucks.  I am a Starbucks girl, especially during pumpkin and gingerbread season but would choose the chai from White Heron any day over Starbucks.  For the Fall they have a Pumpkin Pie Chai…it’s amazing!  They sell their concentrate at their cafe and I was hoping I could buy their pumpkin syrup as well.  Unfortunately I can’t.  They did tell me however that they make their own and there are recipes out their if I wanted to try making my own as well.

So….of course I have been looking up recipes to try making one!!  The one I made this morning wasn’t a huge success.  I chose to try making it, spur of the moment because I had all the ingredients.  The only thing I didn’t have was the cheese cloth to strain the spices.  I tried to use one of my tea bags but it didn’t work haha.  I was able to get a little a tiny bit but haven’t tried it yet.  The recipe I used, I am going to try it again but tweek it.  Majority of the recipes I found on Pinterest call for the same ingredients but different measurements.  Next time I make it I’m going to use less clove and nutmeg.  I like those flavors but they can be over powering at times.

  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Pumpkin purée
  • Cinnamon
  • Clove
  • Nutmeg

You mix it all together, bring it to a boil and then let it simmer.

If I try this tomorrow it’s going to be a very tiny bit because I am starting the Tone It Up Fall Challenge.  It’s a 21 day challenge and they send you an entire packet via email with your recipes and your meal guide.  Their website also has a TON of workouts and post daily moves.  Their recipes are based on clean eating.  If anyone is looking for some awesome meals, great workouts, and guides that help you lose weight, you HAVE to check out Tone It Up!  The muffins I made this morning are for the challenge.  There are no flour and no eggs in the recipe.  Can’t wait to try all my goodies 😊
