The only apps you used to be able to find on my phone was 1 game and a sticky note app. I like to be able to see the background picture on my phone and didn’t like having too many apps cluttering my phone up.
That definitely changed this year!
I would always hear people talk about coupons and different ways to save money using an app. I would never think too much of it and didn’t take the time to figure it out.
One of my friends and one of my coworkers use some of these and I asked before downloading any of them myself. I wanted see how they used them and how much time is needed to actually us them.
Below are the ones I currently use and why
Ibotta – top favorite! This app has SO many markets and various other stores, mobile shopping, and online stores. Some will give a percent off your receipt and others give you a dollar amount off certain items.
Below are a few examples.
Check off the ones you would like to use and then when you are done shopping you redeem by scanning your receipt. Once you have $20 in your account, you can cash that in for gift certificates or you can hook it up to your PayPal account.
I LOVE this app! I don’t change my shopping to just use it and end up spending more money. I just redeem when I can. Better than what I did before, which was nothing!
There are some stores that you can hook it up to your store rewards scan card. In that case, you may need to find the coupons first, check them off and then when you use your store rewards card they will automatically be applied and redeemed in your Ibotta account without having to scan the receipt. Check it out or sign up here!
SavingStar – similar concept as Ibotta but doesn’t have nearly as many items.
Starbucks – another one I love! I go to Starbucks more often in the Fall and Winter. The app allows me to earn stars on every purchase and once I earn a certain number of stars, I receive a free drink or food item! You do need to use the app when you are making your purchase. I purchased a gift card and registered that on the app instead of using a debit or credit card. Whenever I want to add more money, I reload the gift card. Once again, these are things I was already purchasing so why not earn rewards?!
Dunkin Donuts – same as Starbucks. You earn rewards along the way.
Checkout 51 – this one is a cross between Ibotta and Saving Star. I’ve been using it but haven’t taken a huge dive in.
Who doesn’t like saving money??? Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you enjoy some of these!
