This year I am trying to mix more herbal teas into my diet. I LOVE tea so much and caffeine doesn’t affect me so I figured it didn’t matter how much of it I drank. I try to follow the Tone It Up Nutrition plan when I can and as much as I can. It’s always in the back of my mind. They came out with an awesome free 5-day detox that started January 1st or 2nd. I have heard them say before to limit yourself to 2 cups of coffee a day or switch to green tea. They didn’t say specifically caffeine in tea but I figured I could cut back from my 8 cups of chai/green tea to about 2 or 3. I haven’t been able to completely cut down the number of hot drinks but have been drinking more herbal tea.
One of my go to teas that I put together is Raspberry Leaf and vanilla powder. Raspberry Leaf has great benefits for women. It contains magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin B, and potassium. I have heard it can help with menstrual cramps, help if you are trying to conceive, help after a miscarriage and during pregnancy. It is a healthy herb for women and our uterus.
To me, raspberry leaf doesn’t have much of a taste. Since I try not to use sugar in my tea I decided to mix some vanilla powder in with the lose leaf tea. It gives it just enough of a sweet taste that I need without putting much in at all. I’m sure you could mix in some cinnamon with the vanilla or just Raspberry leaf with cinnamon. Could probably even mix in a little cocoa or cacao. It’s completely up to you and your taste buds! I personally will have to try some of the vanilla with cinnamon or cinnamon chips. One of the stores I purchase my lose leaf teas, spices, and herbs at has 3 different forms of cinnamon. Ground cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, and cinnamon chips. I typically purchase all 3 and when I run out of chips I have started crushing the cinnamon sticks and putting those pieces into my tea bags.
